Reuter's Multiplying and Dividing Machine

Manufactured by Saxonia for Carl H. Reuter

(circa 1920)

serial number 3139

This machine has eight places in the setting mechanism, nine places in the revolution counter, and sixteen places in the result register. It also features two locking mechanisms: when activated, the first mechanism prevents the result register from being lifted until the crank is returned to the neutral position. The second prevents the user from switching between addition and subtraction until the crank is returned to the neutral position.

This machine can be tilted backwards or forwards and locked in its stand, to suit the user's preference.

In place of the sliders usually found on this type of machine, this early model featured "small levers, movable in circular arcs".
